Sometimes, things happen to us that we are not prepared for. We can make plans for the future, set goals and look ahead to the future. And this is important!
But sometimes... something can happen that you never dreamed could happen and those goals and plans are thrown into disarray.
This happened to me! On the 4th of September 2010. But let me backtrack a little...
In 2010 I had an idea for my own business - I started to work on it and it took shape in my mind. Then I worked with my friend and mentor Anne Howie and put these ideas on paper and the idea began to blossom.
I also did some work with my brother Simon, the finance wizard, towards launching this business. And my business plan was taking shape!
Exactly two years ago I purchased my domain name and launched my website. As you can see I didn't get too far but it's still there waiting for me to get back2biz!
Then Christchurch had a 7.1 earthquake. Everything was sidelined for a while. We were just getting back on our feet when a 6.3 earthquake hit on February 22nd 2011 and life changed forever in Christchurch.
For me, I just wanted to be close to my family for awhile. It was harder to look beyond the short term. But at the back of my mind was this idea. And it wasn't going away! Slowly I made plans and started taking steps that would get me closer towards implementing my business ideas.
Last week in Christchurch, the new blueprint was unveiled for Christchurch and what it is going to look like in the future.
Christchurch is reinventing itself - a bit of a mix of the old with lots of new exciting stuff.
A bit like my idea - still the same bones of an idea - but is being reinvented to where we are at this point in time.
And that's what I'm planning to do with my business. Help people and small companies reinvent themselves.
It's time to get back to business - The future is exciting and it's time to move ahead!
